ABOUT SERIKAT TAHANAN

Serikat Tahanan (The Prisoners Union) is a political organization of anti-authoritarian prisoners in Indonesia. It was founded on July 17, 2023, by six inmates from six correctional institutions in Indonesia.

Serikat Tahanan represents detainees ranging from arson cases labeled as terrorism, vandalism for incitement to riots, marijuana and other types of drug use, criminalized workers, farmers, and human rights activists.

Serikat Tahanan aims to strengthen solidarity and empower prisoners, fight for prisoners' rights, and create a long-term agenda for prison abolition.

Since 2024, Serikat Tahanan has published the Journal of Prisoners Union irregularly.

All proceeds from donations are used to fund the Prisoner Union’s solidarity program.
